From the roots of their idea, I supported Natural Natives. Running a brand sprint to get their core brand values and their ethos really clear. I was then able to design branding and packaging that reflected and projected exactly who they are, naturally.
Natural Natives - Bespoke Natural Tonics
Natural Natives are a New Zealand startup creating bespoke natural health tonics and supplements. Using earth’s natural riches to empower their community in supporting inner health and wellbeing.
Starting from the roots
I’ve been lucky enough to work with them from the very beginning of their journey. I ran a Brand Sprint with them to strategically align their idea with their purpose and reason for existence. Then I worked with them to create their brand, their identity, their brand story and their packaging.
Building and connecting a brand
I created their brand guideline and master identity files to allow them to keep a consistent brand ethos, look and feel to give them a tool to refer back to no matter who they worked with. I have worked with and continue to work with them on defining and marketing to their audience. Helping them build connections in the health and wellness community. Connecting them to the right audience to support and grow their mission in the best way possible.
I did this via social media support. I coached them in how to approach different social media platforms and set them up with strong strategic content pillars to really help them build connections. I also worked with them to connect to audiences they hadn’t thought of for example I set them up with a stand at NZ Spirit Festival.
Good things come in considered packaging
It was clear when I started working with Natural Natives guys - Jade and Terance that what they wanted was to create a product that goes further than the norm both in what it offers and in how it’s presented. Their first product was a bespoke health tonic - a hemp protein combined with Lions Mane Mushroom. Their goal was to drop all the current associations of protein as we know it. With their background coming from natural nutrition, sports science and healing backgrounds. Jade and Terence are keen to teach and empower our community to gain their own understanding of nature’s powerful tools that can be used to support complete daily wellbeing. Highlighting particular mushrooms combined with other natural ingredients to provide the nutrients our bodies need to feel well and good. Inside and out.
With that in mind we worked to create packaging that tells a different story of protein. A plant-based protein. It’s not shouty. It’s not flimsy. It’s 100% natural. It’s powered to support your inner health. With no nonsense added in, just Earth’s natural riches.
Using a simple, clean and, powerful illustration of a lion’s mane as a spot UV on matt black to show the strength of the natural product and a way to introduce the concept of Lions Mane Mushroom combined with Hemp protein.
Talking to people that want to improve their health naturally whether they are ‘gym goers’ or ‘regular joes’, the ‘plant-based folk’ or the ones who don’t know enough yet. Natural Natives was created to bring the ‘science of natural nutrition’ to the foreground for anyone and everyone. To bring light to the benefits of natural ingredients especially when combined together provide holistic ways to both prevent and naturally aid against a variety of health conditions.
Startup to keep going
Having worked with a few startups in my time. I find it is beneficial for people to have fairly regular contact with brand support to keep them on track and not giving up on their amazing ideas. So after my initial brand creation and packaging work. I have kept up brand support for these awesome guys so they can continue to help people take charge of their own nutrition and wellness.
